Adult Pick Up Soccer

Thornbury Adult Soccer
Well, its that time of year again to dust of the soccer cleats and start stretching your quads in prep for another great season of Thornbury Adult Pick-up Soccer!
This year Grant Kearns and myself will be doing what we hope will be the limited organization of this 'league'. Maybe we should just call it an outing. The thought between a few of the 2009 regulars was that we should keep the league simple and start by offering pick-up soccer. Last year we started with three teams, but extensive injuries on the Town team had the league down to two teams after a few weeks! So, with this e-mail we are hoping to receive replies from those interested in playing, and then we can determine if we need to start with teams, or if we can just go with a "show up and play" process.
The details are as follows: Players 19 years and older. This is a recreational league open to players of all skill levels. If you are looking for a more competitive level of play, this is available in Collingwood and Wasaga Beach. Playing time will be Wednesday nights, on a full field at Tomahawk, 7:30-8:30 or 9:00pm. We will start May 19, 2010 and go to the end of August. We are asking people to provide the season fee of $10 at the first or second game. We will use pinnies for one team, as we did last year. There will not be a referee or coaches. Players typically rotate positions with most fighting over the position of keeper. Players are asked to wear soccer cleats, shin pads are optional.
If you are interested in playing please let Grant or Peggy know by e-mail or phone. Grant can be reached at kearnacious@gmail.com and 519-599-7352. Peggy can be reached at pslama@lynx.org or 519-599-6289. We would like to know how often you think you will come out, or in other words, how much summer vacation will affect your attendance. We know that numbers will drop in July and August, but this information will help at the beginning when we decide if we should start with teams or not.
Hope to see you on the field!
Peggy Slama
