New Referee Programme introduced by the CSA
The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) has introduced a national Referee programme which will ensure a consistent approach to referee development in every Province across the Country.
Beginning in 2009 the existing C1, C2, C3 and C4 levels are replaced with District, Regional and Provincial grades (National and FIFA grades remain unchanged).
All C3 and C4 referees that were registered in 2008 and are 16 years old by March 31st, 2009 will register as District Referees in 2009. All C4 referees that are not 16 years old by March 31st will register as Youth Referees and will automatically become District Referees on the day they become 16.
All Referees in every Province will wear the CSA badge.
All new Referees (who must be 14 years old by March 31st 2009) will be required to attend an Entry Level Clinic that will include a final examination . Upon successful completion of the Clinic they will become District Referees, or Youth Referees if they are not yet 16 years old.
Referees that wish to officiate Mini Soccer (7-a-side) games must attend a Mini Soccer Clinic that will be offered for the first time in 2009. In order to attend a Mini Soccer Clinic you must be 12 years old by March 31st 2009.
